Allset (Teflon Tape) is a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) thread seal tape used to create a leak-proof seal on threaded plumbing joints throughout the Supreme Lifeline range, including MTA/FTA adapters, brass threaded fittings, and valve connections. It is wrapped clockwise around the male thread before the joint is assembled, filling the thread gaps to prevent water seepage.
• Q: How should the tape be applied?
A: Wrap the tape 3-5 times around the male thread in the direction the fitting will be tightened (typically clockwise when viewed from the threaded end), then hand-tighten the joint.
• Q: Is it suitable for hot water threaded joints?
A: Yes, PTFE tape is chemically stable and resistant to the temperatures encountered in domestic hot water plumbing.
• Q: Can it be used with solvent-weld (non-threaded) joints?
A: No, PTFE tape is only for threaded connections; plain solvent-weld pipe-to-fitting joints should use CPVC solvent cement instead.
